Rag Mayur talks about Subham, Paradha, and earning roles that matter

Rag Mayur is one of the most exciting new talents to emerge in Telugu cinema in recent times. With each passing film, the Keedaa Cola actor is landing better roles, and his best performance so far came in the Amazon Prime series Sivarapalli, a remake of the iconic OTT show Panchayat. Most recently, he appeared in Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Subham. Although his role was brief, Rag impressed audiences with his quirky performance and strong comic timing.

Speaking about taking on a small part, Rag says that the quirkiness of his character drew him to the role. His cameo has received a great response, and he is pleased. “The way the audience is loving my role gives me great strength to try out different characters in the future,” says Rag Mayur.

Up next for him is Paradha, also directed by Praveen Kandregula, who helmed Subham. The film features Anupama Parameswaran of Premam fame as the female lead, with Rag Mayur cast opposite her in a full-length role. “I have a gripping role, and the way it has been conceived within the story setup is quite compelling. The social drama has a strong subject and will surely win the hearts of the audience,” he adds.

Rag Mayur bags Allu Aravind's next

The young actor isn’t slowing down. He has signed a new project under the GA2 Pictures banner, backed by Magadheera fame Allu Aravind. This marks a significant milestone in his career, as securing a film under such a prestigious banner is no small feat, and Rag has done it in a short period.

“All of this has happened only because of the support from people who appreciate my performances. With each film, I try to do something different, and I’m thrilled that unique roles are now being written with me in mind,” the actor shares.

When asked about upcoming projects, Rag revealed that Garividi Lakshmi will be released soon. “The film is a biopic of Burra Katha artist Garividi Lakshmi. It’s another opportunity for me to appear in a completely new avatar. Working with big banners is helping me reach a wider audience, and going forward, I want to take on more versatile roles that truly showcase my acting prowess.”

Rag Mayur also delivered a notable performance in ETV Win’s Veeranjaneyulu Vihara Yatra, which became a hit on OTT and highlighted his range as an actor.
