Riddhi Kumar on The Raja Saab: Watching Prabhas do comedy makes things extra special

The Raja Saab is all set to hit the screens on January 9, 2026, as a Sankranthi special. Riddhi Kumar plays one of the female leads in the film, and this marks her big break in Telugu cinema.

Not many know that she earlier appeared in a very small role in Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam, which ended as a huge flop at the box office. However, with The Raja Saab, Prabhas has given her another chance to make her presence felt in the Telugu industry.

Speaking about this, Riddhi Kumar says that bagging a role in The Raja Saab itself is a dream-come-true moment, especially after playing a small role in Radhe Shyam. 

“When the makers approached me, I did not think much about my role and okayed the film right away, as it has Prabhas as the main lead. Seeing him do a comedy after a long time would be extra special,” says Riddhi.

When asked about her role, Riddhi says she has a fun part and will be seen in an interesting character that is connected to Prabhas. Speaking about working with the other female leads, Malavika Mohanan and Niddhi Agerwal, Riddhi says that she had no issues at all.

“Though there are three heroines in the film, everyone’s role is carved out differently, and there is no competition between us. In fact, we had a lovely time shooting for the film and got along quite well.” says Riddhi

It has been quite a long time since audiences have seen Prabhas in such a role, and Riddhi says he will surprise everyone with two different avatars in the film. One is a fun role where Prabhas brings his charm and aura, while the other is an intense character that will shock audiences.

Maruthi has directed the film, which is the biggest project of his career, and he has a massive responsibility to deliver. “Maruthi sir is a very chill person and extracts what he wants from his actors. The way he has showcased Prabhas in a fun role will be a treat for his fans,” adds Riddhi.

The Raja Saab budget and cast details

Thaman has composed the music for the film, which has been made on a budget of Rs 350 crore and has been in the making for a long time. Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, and Boman Irani play key roles in this film. 

As The Raja Saab is releasing alongside other big films like Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Nari Nari Naduma Murari, it remains to be seen how the film will handle the box office pressure.
