It is very rare for an actor to have two close releases within a week of time. Sara Ali Khan, who previously portrayed the quirky and emotional character Bambi in Murder Mubarak, is now preparing to portray Usha Mehta, the freedom fighter in Ae Watan Mere Watan.

Sara Ali Khan's perspective on balancing commercial and unconventional roles

Just a few days ago, ahead of the release of both films, in an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Sara was asked if, from now on, she would be balancing between commercial films and fulfilling her unconventional aspirations. To which the actor told us, "I think the idea as an actor is that we are very lucky to live our lives vicariously and to live our own versions of them. It's like dreaming and living vicariously all at the same time, imagining but actually doing, so it's actually a great job. I think that I'm just privileged to be able to do it, and I want to be able to do different kinds of things."

She also said, "If I can get the chance to shoot Murder Mubarak and Ae Watan Mere Watan in the same month, if I can be Bambi and Usha, then I can promote both of these films in the same month. I mean, what else do I want?"

Sara Ali Khan's adaptability in promotional activities

We further questioned Sara about whether her body language changes when she's promoting either of the films. Affirming the same, the actor went on to share, "I think it has a lot to do with my clothes. I was actually joking, not joking; it's actually true. I was telling my stylist that I do change; you'll make me wear a leopard print jacket with Homi Adajania, and I'll try to be funny, witty, intelligent, and sexy. And then you will give me a saree, and I'm suddenly talking about gambheerta (depth) and stithiyaan (stability)."

The Atrangi Re actor added, "But the truth is that they're both me. And what I'm so lucky to have is an opportunity to show people that Sara saara hai, Sara ke andar yeh saare gun hai (Sara has all these qualities within her). Sara can be the soft, simple girl; I am that person. She can also be loud, funny, and bindaas; I am that person. What can I do?"

Murder Mubarak is currently streaming on Netflix, while Ae Watan Mere Watan will premiere on Prime Video on March 21, 2024.
