Mazaka is Sundeep Kishan's new film that hits the screens on February 26, 2025. The talented actor speaks to us about his role, 15-year-old career, doing big projects for OTT and future projects. Here is the transcript.
Not just Raayan, but my last few films have been quite serious. I was looking for a script that could attract a family audience. That’s when I met Trinadha Rao and writer Prasanna Kumar with the script of Mazaka. The concept, comedy, and underlying emotions about a father-son relationship impressed me, and I signed the film right away. In a way, you can say that Mazaka is my craziest comedy in years and everyone will love me in the film.
I play the role of Krishna, who lives with his father, played by Rao Ramesh. Both of us are single, and the story revolves around how we unexpectedly find love and the crazy situations that land us in trouble. While the trailer may look simple, Mazaka is packed with surprises that will stun the audience.
Rao Ramesh is a seasoned actor, and doing a comedy film with him is not easy. He is spontaneous and improvises a lot on set, which keeps us on our toes. But since comedy is one of my strengths, I managed to match his energy with ease. After a long gap, I have done an out-and-out comedy film, and I’m confident everyone will love it.
Director Trinadha Rao has given the film a fresh, modern twist, which you’ll understand only when you watch it on the big screen. The way comedy is introduced at regular intervals makes Mazaka laugh riot with non-stop entertainment.
We recently watched the entire film, and I am super confident that Mazaka will live up to the hype. With Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, the Telugu audience once again proved that if a story is narrated well, no matter how simple it is, people will flock to theaters. I believe the same will happen with Mazaka.
I feel the best is yet to come. As I grow older, I have a better understanding of filmmaking and the kinds of projects I should take on. No other hero has introduced as many directors as I have in Tollywood. I’ve made mistakes and faced failures, but I’ve learned from them. Now, I understand the industry better, and you’ll see me in more varied roles in the future.
I’m excited about this project. It’s a new-age action drama that will also be released in Telugu. Sanjay is a confident young director, and we have already started shooting. The film’s unique presentation will surely surprise the audience.
I have two OTT series lined up for release in 2025. Netflix is ready with its first-ever Telugu web series, Super Subbu, in which I play the lead. It’s a crazy comedy, and I’m sure it will become a talking point once it is released. As for Family Man 3, I have already completed my shoot and played one of the leads. 2025 is going to be a big year for me in the OTT space.
