In Krishand's most recent web series, Sambhavavivaranam Nalara Sangham, also known as The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang, which is accessible on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium, Darshana Rajendran plays a crucial role. In an interview with OTTplay, the young actress spoke about why she loves collaborating with filmmakers such as Krishand and her other upcoming movies this year.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Krishand stated that you don't need specifics when narrating a screenplay and you say "yes" to him right away. Is it true?
I don't sure what he sees in me, but Krishand is one of my favourite collaborators and gives me such incredible opportunities. Most of the time, I am confident that I will accept his offer because, as an actor and a person, I know that whatever he is proposing will be worthwhile. I am always eager to work on the unconventional ideas he consistently creates.
He said that my character appears in the fifth and sixth episodes of The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang, and that's where my journey starts. I was thrilled to read what little was in the screenplay. Krishand is one of those filmmakers who sees beyond what an actor has already displayed. He gives actors plenty of room to shine by setting them in a whole different context.
What do you think are the main challenges when working in the film industry?
There are never-ending challenges, and they differ every time. I constantly discuss with those who are close to me that these difficulties never go away. At first, I think it's all about finding work and reaching the right places. The goal is to keep up that standard once you've been a part of a few successful films. There are thousands of obstacles in every space, and films are no exception.

Along with movies, you are also actively involved in theatrical work. How are things working for you?
In actuality, this phase has been exciting! I am working on a variety of cinema, theatre, and online series. There is a good mix going on, and it has always been my goal to be able to do all of these things and accomplish it effectively. In terms of theatre, I have Under the Mangosteen Tree and Bye-Bye Bypass. I feel more alive on stage, which is why I adore it. As a performer, I am making sure I don't miss anything this year. While I do enjoy watching films, I feel a different sense of fulfilment as an actor when I'm in the stage.
With Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra, your friend Santhy Balachandran has taken the leap into screenwriting. Do you have an interest to pursue anything other than acting in movies?
I want to start by saying that I am really proud of Santhy since I have followed her journey from the start to the point where she found a place for herself in this project. It's good to see her standing up for what she believes in. There are many people you support and Santhy is one of them. It's also fantastic that this movie is getting rave response from the audience.
Returning to your question, we act in Bye-Bye Bypass and work on all of its facets. We worked together to write, create, and other aspects of this production. I don't think I'm really qualified to delve into any other area of cinema. I haven't given anything but acting any thought. I don't have any plans to pursue anything other than acting as of now.
What are your upcoming films?
We have multiple shows of Bye-Bye Bypass slated to be performed in various cities. My part in Mahesh Narayanan's Patriot has not been completed. Additionally, it's a fascinating project that, believe me, is worth the wait. There is a Tamil film, Love Kaveri, yet to have a theatrical release. There are ongoing discussions about more projects.
