The Bengali language movie Aparajito is the second part of the famous Apu trilogy directed by Satyajit Ray. The movie begins right where it ended in the first film and follows Apu as he moves away from the village to live in the city of Benares. We see his growth as an intellectual student and his complex relationship with his mother. The movie stars Pinaki Sengupta, Kanu Banerjee and Karuna Banerjee in lead roles and is written by Ray himself. At the Venice International Film Festival in 1956, Aparajito won three major prizes, including The Golden Lion.
