Athiran

Athiran is a 2019 Indian Malayalam film directed by Vivek. This is a psychological thriller film which follows the story of a psychiatrist and an autism patient in an isolated mental asylum. Dr Nair, arrives at the facility run by Dr. Benjamin. Nair dislikes Benjamin’s approach and thinks of him as ill-tempered. Nair gets to know about the facility and inquires about the patients. He gets to know of one such patient who’s chained and locked, unlike others. Nair demands to see the autistic patient, Nithya. Dr. Nair then tries to treat Nithya and in the process takes a liking to her. Is Nithya just an autistic patient or Is there more to her? Is Dr. Nair, really the person everyone believes him to be? Is Dr. Benjamin a good psychiatrist or Is he a nihilist tormentor? Towards the end Athiran, will either disappoint you or will leave you with your eyes and brain wide open.
