ChaalBaaz

Chaalbaaz, directed by Pankaj Parashar was released on 8 December 1989 is a movie about a pair of twins who were separated at birth. Both roles of Anju and Manju are played by Sridevi. Anju ends up with her uncle Tribhuvan (Anupam Kher) and aunt Amba (Rohini Hattangadi) and is a scared, shy child whilst Manju is raised in a slum environment and is a strong, sharp independent lady. Their family is murdered in a car ‘accident’ by Tribhuvan. We see that Tribhuvan is only keeping Anju alive because of the property and we even see him whip and mistreat her if she does anything wrong by mistake. Manju one day meets Suraj (Sunny Deol) who is Vishwanath’s (Saeed Jaffrey) son who is a friend of Tribhuvan. The two fall in love but he thinks that she is Anju. When he with his father goes to Anju’s to ask for her hand he denies even meeting him. Tribhuvan wants her to marry Batuknath Lallanprasad Malpani a.k.a. Balma (Shakti Kapoor) who is an abusive man and even kills her dog because the dog tries to protect Anju. The girl runs away from home and during the same time Manju has a fight with Jaggu and she sets off on her own path and they end up exchanging places without realising. Manju ends up asserting dominance over Tribhuvan and his family whilst Anju ends up falling in love with Jaggu who is Manju’s friend. Balma sees Anju at Manju's place and realises that the one in their house is her twin sister Manju. He ends up kidnapping Anju but Manju, Jaggu and Suraj save her. Suraj and Manju get married and so does Anju and Jaggu.
