Ex Machina

The plot follows a programmer, Caleb Smith, who is invited to a one-week visit to the luxurious, isolated home of his CEO, Nathan Bateman, to administer the Turing test to an intelligent humanoid robot named Ava. He is asked to operate the tests to judge if Ava is genuinely capable of thought and consciousness despite knowing she is artificial. Alex Garland, the English writer famous for his novel The Beach (1996) is making his directorial debut with this film. The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Sonoya Mizuno and Oscar Isaac, who is known for films such as Body of Lies (2008), Robin Hood (2010) and Dune (2021).
