Hey Ram

Hey Ram, a 2000 movie, is directed by Kamal Hasaan,. It is a crime-drama movie starring Kamal Hasaan, Rani Mukerji, Hema Malani, and Shah Rukh Khan. It is based on the Partition Of India and follows the life of Saketh Ram, who tries to kill Mahatma Gandhi. The movie takes place in the 1940s when Saketh Ram and Amjad Ali Khan, are archeologists and opposed to Partition. The riots and chaos take place over the formation of Pakistan and the issue of Partition. A time comes when Saketh’s wife, Aparna Ram, gets raped and murdered by a Muslim gang. Saketh is enraged by this act and kills all the Muslims responsible for his wife’s murder. In a fit rage, Saketh joins a militant organization to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi for his unreasonable stand and wants Hindu and Muslims to live together peacefully. Later, Saketh is invited by Mahatma Gandhi, and learns about his teachings on love and non-violence. Saketh refuses his mission to the leader of the organization, however, Gandhi is assassinated by Nathuram Godse. In the end, Saketh treasures Gandhi’s spectacles and footwear from the shootout until he dies and follows Gandhian values and principles thereafter.
