Life of Pi, a 2012 movie, is directed by Ang Lee, streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. It is an adventurous drama and fantasy film, starring Suraj Sharma as Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel at the age of 16 and Irfan Khan as Pi as an adult. The movie is based on the 2001 novel with the same name by Yann Martel. The movie starts with a Canadian writer who meets the adult Pi Patel for his extraordinary life story, which can be a good subject for a book. Pi starts his story by telling about his father, who named him Molitor Patel but later on, adopts the name Pi. Pi’s family owns a zoo, where he takes interest in the animals, the major attraction being the Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Later, the whole family decides to move to Canada to settle and sell the animals, but during a storm, the ship sinks into the Mariana trench, drowning the whole family except Pi, who gets on a lifeboat with the zebra, orangutan, spotted hyena, and Richard Parker. As the story develops, one by one, the animals die following the food cycle except for Pi and Richard Parker. The loneliness days with a Bengal Tiger makes Pi learn the struggle to survive. Lee’s direction garnered appreciations and positive reviews, especially for the visual effects, while Robert Ebert, a film critic, and journalist also referred to the film as "a miraculous achievement of storytelling and a landmark of visual mastery"
