Maachis

Maachis, a 1996 movie, is directed by Gulzar. It is an action-crime and drama movie, starring Tabu, Chandrachur Singh, and Om Puri. The movie is inspired by the 1980s insurgency in the state of Punjab, related to the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. As the assassination of Kedar Nath, a member of the Indian Parliament, is on the run, Veeran is happily spending time with her family. Kripal is Veeran's fiance and lives with his grandfather. The police look for Jimmy, who attempts to assassinate Kedar Nath. Under the worst circumstances, Kripal turns into a member of the unit who wants their basic civil rights and self-respect. Kripal learns that Veeran has also become a member of the same unit to follow Kripal’s footsteps. However, Kripal gets arrested by Inspector Vohra and put in jail. While Sanatan blows up Kedar Nath’s car firing a missile, Veeran escapes from Wazir’s clutches. She visits Kripal in jail and gives him the cyanide pill to commit suicide, as he gets caught by the police.
