Maqbool

Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, Maqbool is a 2004 Hindi language crime thriller drama starring Pankaj Kapoor, Irrfan, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah & Om Puri. The film is an adaptation of the William Shakespeare play Macbeth. The film is set in the underworld of Mumbai. Jahangir Khan aka Abba ji, an underworld King is served by Maqbool who is very loyal to his boss. Abbaji's mistress Nimmi has an affair with Maqbool and often encourages him to murder Abbaji to take over the underworld and become the next don. Maqbool is puzzled between his wish for power and his loyalty towards his master but he makes the call and murders Abbajj. Two police officers are given the case but they don't bother to dig deep into it. Everyone suspects Maqbool to be behind the murder and eventually the couple meet their disfortunate end.
