With time as the film industry has evolved, so did the viewers. Nowadays, everyone expects a script with a top-notch performance from the cast and tries to relate. Muthuramalingam entirely fails to stand out with its family rivalry, a flashback story, and clićhed confrontation. This Tamil movie, directed by Rajadurai, received negative reviews at the opening and also came across a hindrance at the time of its release. The Madras High Court issued an order restraining the screening of Muthuramalingam due to its non-payment of 28.5 lakh Rupees by Vijay Prakash, the producer. Gautham Karthik in the title role and Priya Anand as Viji explores a story revolving around an inter-village competition.
