Mystic River

Mystic River, a 2003 movie, is directed by Clint Eastwood, streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. It is an American mystery drama based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. The movie stars Sean Penn as James "Jimmy" Markum and Tim Robbins as Dave Boyle. The movie is set in 1975 when two men pretending to be a police officer and a priest kidnap Dave and sexually abuse him for four days until he escapes. 25 years later, Dave, a blue-collar worker, is still haunted by the abduction and rape, while Jimmy, Dave’s friend, has a 19-year-old daughter, Katie, who is found murdered one night. Sean, who is a detective, finds out the culprit related to Katie’s murder, but much to his dismay, Jimmy has already killed Dave, who was a suspect for the same. Dave had killed a child molester the same night Katie died. While Sean makes sure that Jimmy gets behind the prison bars, Jimmy also spreads his arms and exclaims his acceptance.
