Neerja

Neerja is a 2016 Indian Hindi - language film directed by Ram Madhvani and written by Saiwyn Quadras and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh. This film is a biography of Neerja Bhanot, Ashoka Chakra winner who saved 359 lives on Pan Am Flight 73 which was hijacked by terrorists. The film starts at a house party where Neerja’s mother asks her to get back to modelling but she insists on continuing as a flight attendant. The next morning, she leaves for the airport. It is revealed that she was in an unhappy and traumatic marriage for a short while but nevertheless, she is a successful and a brave woman. Upon suspecting terrorist activities on the plane, she immediately informs the pilot but they flee upon the first chance they get. This left Neerja in charge. She tried every possible way to protect all the passengers and was mostly successful. But after 17 hours, the lights in the plane went off due to some technical glitches angering the terrorists. Therefore, they started shooting. Neerja immediately opened the emergency exit and allowed all the passengers to move out safely. However, the brave woman lost her life protecting three children.
