Poltergeist

The Freelings are an average Californian family. Steve and Diane have three children: Dana, Robbie and Carol Ann. When ghosts begin to communicate with them through their television set, strange and creepy things begin happening to the Freelings. The initially playful and friendly ghosts turn increasingly menacing when Carol Ann goes missing. Steve and Diane have to turn to a parapsychologist and then an exorcist to save the child. Poltergeist is an American horror film that was directed by Tobe Hooper who has directed critically acclaimed horror films like Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Funhouse. The film was written by Steven Spielberg, he was initially set to direct the film but he was unable to since he was working on E.T: Extra-Terrestrial. Craig T. Nelson played the role of Steve joined by JoBeth Williams as Diane. The roles of the children were performed by Dominique Dunne, Oliver Robins and Heather O’Rourke.
