Saagar

Saagar is a 1985 indian Hindi - language film directed by Ramesh Sippy. It is a romantic drama film starring Rishi kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Kamal Hassan. The story follows the life of a young girl Mona who lives with her father, Mr. D’Silva. They both run a small restaurant in a fishermen locality in Goa. A boy named Raja lives nearby with no family of his own but he considers Miss Joseph as his mother. He is in love with Mona from the start but is afraid to confess as he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. Meanwhile, a wealthy boy, Ravi arrives in the locality to visit his grandmother, Kamladevi. He sees Mona in the neighbourhood and instantly gets attracted. He tries to woo Mona and the two fall deeply in love. Raja is disheartened upon learning this but does not say anything and cries in front of Miss Joseph. On the other hand, Kamladevi gets to know about their affair and is not happy about it. She tells Ravi to break it off as she wants him to marry someone of the same status but he does not listen. Therefore, she threatens Mona to destroy the whole fishermen community.
