Safar

Written and directed by Asit Sen based on the novel Chalachal by Ashutosh Mukherjee, the Hindi romantic drama film revolves around the surgeon Dr. Neela. Back when she was a student in a medical college, she fell in love with one of her peers named Avinash. Since Avinash is poor and wants Neela to live a comfortable life, he never spoke about love or marriage with her. Due to financial constraints, Neela begins to tutor a student and eventually falls in love with his older brother, a businessman named Shekhar. But things take a turn when misunderstandings arise among these people. Produced by Mushir-Riaz, the film stars Sharmila Tagore as Dr. Neela in the lead. The rest of the cast includes Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Feroz Khan, I.S. Johar, Aruna Irani, Nadira, and Nandita Thakur, among others.
