This biopic traces the rise of Bal Keshav Thackeray, as he goes from being a cartoonist, to establishing a new political party for Maharashtrians, the Shiv Sena.
Almost every moment in the movie is a death of irony, the biggest of them being that Nawazuddin Siddiqui, an outsider on both counts of community and religion, plays Balasaheb Thackeray.
It’s a one-man show. The film portrays Thackeray as this fiery, fearsome, larger than life figure whose writ runs large and unquestioningly in Maharashtra.
