The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is a 1985 American English - language film directed by John Hughes. It is a teen, coming - of - age comedy - drama film starring Emilio Estevez, Paul Gleason, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy. The five girls Claire Standish, Andrew Clark, John Bender, Brian Johnson and Allison Reynolds study in the same class in Shermer High School in Shermer, Illinois. Apart from this, they have little in common, and with the exception of Claire and Andrew, they do not see eye to eye. Claire is a princess, Andrew-an athlete, John-a criminal, Brian-a brain, and Allison-a basket case, but the girls get a nine hour detention in the school library together on Saturday, March 24, 1984, and Mr. Vernon is supervising from his office across the hall. Each one of them is required to write a minimum one thousand word essay in detention about themselves. At the beginning, they will write what the world makes them believe about themselves, but,the adventures during the nine hours may change their opinion about themselves and they might write something different.
