The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is the first instalment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy based on the epic novel series of the same name by J R R Tolkien. Set in Middle-earth, the sci-fi fantasy drama revolves around the Dark Lord Sauron, who is in search of the One Ring which will ensure his full might once again. The Ring is now in the hands of the young hobbit Frodo Baggins. Upon realising he must destroy the Ring, Frodo and his eight companions, also known as the Fellowship of the Ring, journey to Mount Doom located in Mordor— the only place where the Ring can be destroyed. The fate of Middle Earth rests upon this. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson and directed by Peter Jackson. An ensemble cast consisting of Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, and Billy Boyd feature in this film.
