The Notebook

The Notebook is a 2004 American English - language film directed by Nick Cassavetes. It is a romantic drama film starring Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner, Gena Gowlands, Kevin Connolly and Sam Shephard. The film is based on Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 novel by the same name. This movie is set in 1940s South Carolina and follows the story of mill worker Noah Calhoun and rich girl Allie who are desperately in love. However, her parents disapprove of their love. When Noah goes off to serve in World War II, everybody seems to think that their love affair has ended. In the meantime, Allie gets involved with another man. But when Noah returns to their small town years later to attend Allie's marriage, it is clear that the love between them is still blooming.
