The film threads parallel timelines of the past and present. The contemporary portions circle the meet-cute between a journalist and a museum curator. The curator's mother and her own love story bind the two tracks together in surprising ways. The mother-daughter bond connects the disparate threads. LaKeith Stanfield, an Academy award-nominated actor, plays the journalist, Michael, while Issa Rae plays the curator. Stella Meghie has written and directed the film.
