Set in the 1990s, Timepass is a Marathi romantic drama film that depicts the teenage love of Dagadu and Prajakta. Dagdu belongs to a lower caste and is the son of an autorickshaw driver, while Prajakta is an upper caste girl. Prajakta's father and society does not approve of their love and forces Dagdu out of Prajakta's life. Despite the odds stacked against them, the two promise each other to fight against all the challenges and be together. Directed by Ravi Jadhav, the film's story has been inspired the Shaiju Mathew's 2010 novel Knocked Up. The film features performances from Prathamesh Parab, Ketaki Mategaonkar, Vaibhav Mangle, Bhalchandra Kadam, Meghana Erande, Urmila Kanitkar, and Bhushan Pradhan among others. Produced by Zee Talkies, the film went on to become the highest-grossing Marathi film ever until Ritesh Deshmukh's 2014 film Lai Bhaari broke the record. The film was also remade into the Telugu film Andhra Pori, with a sequel named Timepass 2 releasing in 2015.
