Melvin is a shy 11year old boy who is afraid of water. He is bullied by his peers for his fear, and he copes by developing a vivid imagination. One day, he meets a new girl in school who helps him to face his fear. With her help, Melvin learns to swim and overcomes his hydrophobia. He also learns the importance of friendship and courage.
