Being in love with each other, Vikram and Sunita plan to marry, but Vikram's mother opposes it because of Sunita's poor background. They decide to marry anyway, but on their way to the temple, they have a car crash. Vikram has a brain injury leading to a coma. Sunita survives but is badly disfigured and undergoes plastic surgery.
