It's been ten years since Thalapathy Vijay's Thuppaki hit screens on November 13, 2012. The film, was billed as one of the biggest hits in Vijay's career, and had the actor playing an Army Officer, who takes down sleeper cells planning a bomb blast in Mumbai. The film was remade in Hindi as Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. Here are a few interesting facts about the film.

AR Murugadoss's engaging screenplay
The film marked Vijay's maiden collaboration with AR Murugadoss and he played an intelligence officer in the Indian Army, who goes to take down and deactivate a sleeper cell planning a bomb blast across the city. The engaging screenplay meant that the film never had a dull moment and the audience had a fun time watching the actor in a completely new avatar.

The chemistry between Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal
Thuppaki also marked the first film of Vijay with the leading lady Kajal Aggarwal. Their chemistry in the film was such a hit, along with the comedy portions, that they soon came together in Jilla as well.

Chartbuster music by Harris Jayaraj
Harris Jayaraj, who has been a regular in AR Murugadoss's films like Ghajini and 7Aum Arivu, scored the music for Thuppakki as well. The film marked the comeback of Vijay as a singer with the song, Google Google, a duet with Andrea Jeremiah. Vijay had last sung, Vaadi Vaadi, in Sachien (2005). Not only were the songs a huge hit, the background music, too, worked well for the film.

A strong antagonist
Vidyut Jammwal played a terrorist in the film, who heads the sleeper cell. The fight between the leading man and the antagonist were clearly engaging and the events that led up to the meeting of the two had the audience eating out of their hands. Santosh Sivan's effective cinematography made the film all the more appealing.
