10 years of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Ayan Mukerji recalls, 'making this movie was one of the greatest joys of my life'

It's time to enjoy the "yaadein," just like we open the "mithaai ke dibbe" after 10 years to reminisce about the beautiful film called Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The film, which marked the second directorial of Ayan Mukerji after Wake Up Sid, reunited fan favourites Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone on the big screen after five years. Now, as YJHD, as it's popularly addressed, Ayan took a trip down memory lane and wrote about the film, which is so special even now for millions of fans.

Ayan shared a BTS video of the film on his Instagram page and wrote, "YJHD: My second child, a piece of my heart and soul, is 10 years old today! I think after all these years, I can confidently say that making this movie was one of the greatest joys of my life! And what we achieved with it, with all its perfections and imperfections, is a source of great eternal pride for me!"

The filmmaker revealed that he has never watched Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani from beginning to end. "Strangely, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fully from beginning to end since the day it was released. I am always pushing towards the next milestone and not looking back enough," he continued.

However, Ayan added, "But when I’m older and wiser, I think I will watch the movie at least once a year because a big part of who I was and how I looked at life is forever captured in this movie!"

Although his third film, Brahmastra, hit the big screens in 2022, fans still approach him to talk about YJHD. Sharing the same, the filmmaker stated, "In recent months, I have often had people recognise me and come up to me. and I was thinking they would say something about Brahmastra, and then they started talking about YJHD!"

Ayan further wrote, "So, I'm putting out a whole lot of gratitude for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and all the many people who connected deeply with the movie over the years!"

The Wake Up Sid helmer also wrote, "I was also sharing a director’s note I had written at the time in my story, which someone special from my team shared with me a few days ago, and it brought back all kinds of memories for me!"
