100 days of 777 Charlie and still no sign of its OTT release in other languages

One of the best loved Kannada films this year, 777 Charlie had been lapped up by audiences across the country when it released in theatres on June 10. The Kiranraj K directorial, which starred Rakshit Shetty, Sangeetha Sringeri, Raj B Shetty, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Bobby Simha, among others, was released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam and had made well over Rs 100 crore revenue, much to the delight of the team.

Rakshit, who also produced the film, had sold its satellite and digital rights prior to the film’s theatrical release to Colors Kannada and Voot Select, with a not before 48 days from release clause. So far, 777 Charlie’s Kannada version is the only one available to stream and audiences from across the country have been asking about the due date for the other language versions.

When we checked with Kiranraj, he said that negotiations with a streamer for the other languages were in final stages and that he should be able to provide more information shortly. According to several social media polls, 777 Charlie is one of the most-awaited films on OTT for the other language versions. “#777Charlie other languages OTT release when?! India wants to know!” is one of the most popular tweets on the internet now.

Meanwhile, for the film’s 100-day theatrical journey, Rakshit had posted, “Of all the wonderful things this journey has bestowed me with, the most cherished is the love 777 Charlie has received from you, our audience. Thank you guys, you have made this success all the more special 🤗 #777Charlie.”
