Baana Kaathadi is written and directed by Badri Venkatesh and stars Atharvaa and Samantha in the lead roles. The film marks one of the first few films Samantha did in Tamil at the start of her career. Baana Kaathadi marked the debut of both Atharvaa and Samantha in Tamil. The film released on August 6, 2010, marking 14 years since its release on Tuesday. You can stream it on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

The film revolves around a young man who spends time flying kites with his friends. After he befriends a design student, his life takes a turn. Apart from Samantha and Atharvaa, the film also stars Prasanna, Karunas, Mounika, Manobala and others. It also had a special appearance by veteran actor and Atharvaa's father Murali, before he died in September 2010. Baana Kaathadi was received well, with critics praising the lead actors' performances.

Sathya Jyothi Films bankrolled the film, which has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Tracks like Thaakkuthe Kann Thaakkuthe, and En Nenjil were chartbusters at the time of its release.

Samantha and Atharvaa’s upcoming projects

Samantha will be next seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian installment of the Citadel series which is slated to debut on Prime Video worldwide. Varun Dhawan and Samantha play the lead roles in the series. Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.) are the creative minds behind India's Citadel universe, which will debut on November 7. Samantha is also reportedly set to play the lead role in Vijay’s 69th outing.

On the other hand, Atharvaa will be next seen in DNA, an upcoming film directed by Nelson Venkatesan and has Nimisha Sajayan play the female lead.
