1945 release date: When and where to watch Rana Daggubati, Regina Cassandra's period drama on OTT

1945, the period drama, shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, was one among the many surprise releases earlier this year owing to the postponement of biggies like RRR and Radhe Shyam. Starring Rana Daggubati, Regina Cassandra, Sathyaraj and Nasser in key roles, the film directed by Sathyasivaa was almost considered shelved when the male lead and the makers parted ways owing to a few differences. The pre-independence era romance is now out on SunNXT.

The film revolves around a London-educated Aadi, who returns to Burma after his father passes away and appears set to take over the latter's business. He lives in a small town where violent clashes erupt between the Netaji-led INA and the British. Aadi is also set to marry Anandi, the daughter of the local tahsildar Subbaiah. However, the sudden death of his friend Krishna forces Aadi to join INA and his alliance is abruptly called off. Will Aadi and Anandi unite?

The drama produced by SN Rajarajan under K Productions has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The technical crew comprises cinematographer Sathya Ponmar and editor Gopikrishna. The Tamil version of 1945 was initially titled Madai Thiranthu. Kaali Venkat, Saptagiri and Sampath Ram also essay crucial characters in the movie. None of the lead actors in the film went onto promote it during the time of its release and 1945 opened to negative reviews from critics and audiences alike.
