Fridaay app has just announced its upcoming original web series, 1954 The Historical Crime two days back. Created by Sayantan Mukherjee, the show claims to take viewers into the heart of a brutal murder case that shocks the bustling city of Kolkata. While the release date and official trailer are still under wraps, the news alone has sparked anticipation among the netizens on the internet.
The upcoming Bengali web series is jointly backed by Rupa Dutta's Camellia Productions Pvt. Ltd and Pawan Kanodia. The show was earlier titled 1954 Belarani Murder Case, and actor Rudranil Ghosh will be seen as detective Samarendra Sengupta in the Lalbazar scam. 1954 The Historical Crime claims to be based on a real-life incident.
The first motion poster has been dropped on Fridaay app and the picture depicts the heinous case in the first-look very clearly. The platform made a thrilling revelation in the caption by writing, “Shohorer buke ghote jawa ak mormantik hotyakander rohoshyer jhot khulbe ebar. (This time the mystery of a tragic murder that took place in the heart of the city will be unraveled).”
Actress Prantika Das to be seen as Belarani in the upcoming series. Previously, she shared some insights about 1954 The Historical Crime with Ajkaal.in portal and stated that the story of the series revolves around Belarani and is set in North Kolkata during the 1950s. Prantika also revealed that the shooting has been wrapped up already, and will be released very soon.
Apart from Prantika Das and Rudranil Ghosh, 1954 The Historical Crime will also feature Pujarini Ghosh, Sudipa Basu, Kaushik Sen, and Biplob Banerjee in major key roles.
Kolkata's albazar Detective Department's old-school power was something to behold and their detectives were quite sharp which will be something fascinating to watch in the series. As this modern generation personally digs real-life stories and not just read books, so the filmmaker decided to give the real detectives an amazing look in 1954 The Historical Crime, bringing their incredible work out of the shadows and onto the screen.
