Tovino Thomas-starrer 2018 has shattered previous records and emerged as an all-time blockbuster in the Malayalam film industry. Since its release this month on a limited number of screens, the movie has been exceeding expectations and creating waves at the global box office.

Made with a modest budget of Rs 30 crore, 2018 has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and is steadily approaching the impressive milestone of Rs 150 crore in worldwide collections. Reports indicate that the film has amassed over Rs 141 crore so far, making it the second highest-grossing movie in the history of Malayalam cinema. 2018 has already achieved a massive feat by earning Rs 100 crore in just 11 days of its release and is poised to surpass Pulimurgan's lifetime collection soon.

2018 has also outperformed KGF: Chapter 2 in terms of ticket sales in Kerala and is on track to break the collection records set by Baahubali: The Conclusion at the Kerala box office. The film's success extends beyond Kerala, as it has been making waves in the UAE market, becoming the sixth Malayalam movie to complete 10,000 shows in the Gulf region. With no signs of slowing down, 2018 continues to captivate audiences.

Now gearing up for a nationwide release in multiple languages, the film's producers are optimistic that the dubbed versions will set new benchmarks in terms of commercial success for the Malayalam film industry. Inspired by real-life events, 2018 is a gripping disaster movie that portrays the heroism of ordinary individuals during one of the country's biggest calamities. Its remarkable success is a testament to the power of positive word-of-mouth.

Written and directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, 2018 features a stellar cast including Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narain, Lal, Indran, and Aju Varghese.
