2018 composer Nobin Paul: Humbled by the outpouring of love for my music

For the last several years, composer Nobin Paul has been enthralling Kannada film audiences with his musical scores, but it was only in 2022 that the whole nation sat up and took note. Nobin’s rousing score for Rakshit Shetty’s 777 Charlie not only got him widespread love and appreciation, but also put him under the radar of other filmmakers who wanted him to collaborate with them. One of them was Malayalam filmmaker Jude Anthany Joseph, who called Nobin after the trailer of 777 Charlie came out and praised his work.

Later, after the film came out, Jude reached out yet again and suggested that they collaborate. When Nobin met the filmmaker, he was on the set of 2018 in Vaikkom and the composer thought that Jude wanted to discuss his next with him. But as it turns out, 2018 was the film that he wanted Nobin to work on. Thrilled about such a special film being his debut in the Malayalam industry, the composer had told us, “Like 777 Charlie, which depended heavily on the music to convey emotions, 2018 will also be music (background score) driven. I am beyond thrilled at this opportunity. Truth be told, I could not have asked for a better Mollywood debut.”

Prior to the release, we had spoken to Nobin yet again, and he had assured us that even though it rains from start to finish in the film, his score never becomes overbearing, adding to the visual spectacle and making it a must-watch in theatres. Nobin was not wrong, as has been attested by everyone who’s watched the film and ensured it is on its way to making it to the Rs 100 crore club. The composer, who was on a family holiday during the release, is back now and has been flooded with congratulatory messages.

He has now taken to social media to thank everyone for the love showered on him. “I feel incredibly blessed and humbled by the outpouring of love and feedback for my #2018Movie Music ❤️Receiving such a tremendous amount of positive feedback is truly heartwarming!
