The teaser of director Jude Anthany Joseph's upcoming project, 2018, which is based on the Kerala floods, was released today. The one minute 28 second teaser gives a glimpse of the travails of the people during the massive floods that took many lives and how the government machinery swept into action and struggled hard to rescue lives in the pouring rain. The film has been shot with dim light keeping with the mood of the film and there is a forecast that there will be heavy rain due to cyclonic depressions. All those on leave are asked to return to work and be present in the control room. The Navy and Army are also brought in as the condition gets worse.
2018 is said to be director Jude Anthany Joseph’s dream project and the film's title was announced by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Fahadh Faasil not long ago. The film has ensemble star cast which includes Tovino Thomas, Kunchako Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narein, Lal, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Thanvi Ram, Shivada, Gauthami Nair, Siddique to name a few. It is said that the team shot across 200 locations for the movie in over 100 days. And this included areas in Kerala that were affected by floods and also in Tirunelveli and Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
Though the director had earlier shot for the film, the pandemic-induced lockdown put a brake on the same. The shoot was later revived.
The story has been written by Jude Anthany Joseph, cinematography is by Akhil George, editing by Chaman Chakko and music by Nubin Paul. The film has been jointly produced by Kavya Films and Prime Productions and is slated to hit screens in 2023. Jude Anthany Joseph had earlier helmed the films Sara's featuring Anna Ben and Ohm Shaanti Oshana starring Nivin Pauly and Nazriya.
