3 Idiots fame actor Olivier Lafont has responded to a tweet apologising for not understanding his character Suhas in Rajkumar Hirani’s 2009 film. Sharing screen space with Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, Olivier played Kareena Kapoor Khan’s on-screen fiancée.

One of the laughing gigs on the film was Suhas’ admiration for his material possessions and remembering the price for most of his possessions. 14 years after the release of the film, the internet has come in defense of the character and has showered love on Suhas saying that they misunderstood the character.

One of the users took to twitter and said that Suhas was a good person who valued money and was correct. "Suhas, I used to laugh at you as a kid, but as I grew up, I realized you were a good man. Losing a ₹4 lakh watch, for which you had worked tirelessly, would drive anyone crazy. I now understand now how it feels when a pair of $400 shoes get dirty. Everyone dreams of earning more money, and you were not wrong in making your career choice. Tumne sab kamaya tha shyad islye tumhe keemat yaad thi :)", the user wrote.

The French actor reacted to the tweet saying that it's amazing how both the movie and the character had such an impact then and even now. He also added that it's nice that Suhas is finally getting some love.

Olivier shared the screenshot of the viral tweet on Facebook and said, "Lately I've been getting messages from people 'apologising' about misunderstanding the character of Suhas Tandon that I played many years ago in the film 3 idiots, and then this post by Aaraynsh Singh went viral highlighting the conversation about a balanced understanding and appreciation of the place of money in life. It's amazing that both the movie and character had such an impact then, and even now. It's also nice that Suhas is finally getting some love.”

He also tweeted, "The sudden interest in Suhas has been so unexpected. He really seems to have struck a chord with people lately.”

Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel Five Point Someone, 3 Idiots became a massive box office hit. Apart from acting in 3 Idiots, the actor has worked in over 70 commercials and has featured in Bollywood films such as Guzaarish and Paa. He made headlines in 2015 when he authored a mythological adventure book Warrior, released by Penguin.
