Bheed:

Bheed is a thought-provoking film that shines a light on the struggles faced by the marginalised during the pandemic-induced crisis. With its powerful storytelling and captivating visuals, the movie captures the harrowing journey of migrants as they face unimaginable challenges and heart-wrenching tragedies. The black-and-white cinematography adds a striking and immersive quality to the film, amplifying the starkness of their reality. Through its authentic portrayal, Bheed not only exposes the deep-rooted prejudices and inequalities within society but also urges viewers to reflect on the actions of those in power.

Bheed is streaming on Netflix.

Evil Dead Rise:

If you are in the mood for a horror movie, look no further than filmmaker Lee Cronin's retelling of the crown jewel of the horror genre. With spine-tingling suspense and terrifying visuals, Cronin stays true to the franchise's roots in the latest iteration of the Evil Dead franchise, which follows the horrifying tale of a possessed mother who unleashes terror upon her own children. Originally planned for a direct-to-stream release, the overwhelming response from test screenings prompted the producers to opt for a theatrical release, a decision that paid off immensely. The film grossed a staggering $100 million in global ticket sales, making it the highest-earning instalment in the Evil Dead franchise. The movie stars Mirabai Pease, Richard Crouchley, and Anna-Maree Thomas.

Evil Dead Rise will be available for rent on BookMyShow and Amazon Prime Video.

Mumbaikar:

Mumbaikar is the remake of the Tamil hit Maanagaram, which marked the directorial debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj. The Hindi remake is helmed by Santosh Sivan and it stars Vijay Sethupathi and Vikrant Massey in the lead roles. Judging from the trailer , Santosh Sivan seems to have stayed true to the original. The movie tells the tale of a man who tries to get rich quickly by kidnapping the son of a wealthy man. However, he ends up kidnapping the wrong child, who happens to be the son of a dreaded gangster in Mumbai. And it sets the plot for a series of errors that are both humourous and through-provoking. Vijay Sethupathi promises a memorable performance, and Vikrant Massey takes on the mantle of a contemporary angry young man.

Mumbaikar will debut on JioCinema on June 2.
