Dhadak, the much-anticipated Hindi version of the Marathi film Sairat, completed three years since its release today. The film, which marked the debut of Janhvi Kapoor, had Ishaan Khatter as the male lead and had a few peppy songs including Pehli Baar and Zingaat that went on to be chart-toppers in 2018.
While Dhadak wasn’t as critically acclaimed as Sairat, the performances of the lead pair in Shashank Khaitan’s directorial were lauded by the audience. Both the films shed light on casteism.
Though Dhadak is a romantic drama, Ishaan got to perform multiple stunts to impress Janhvi’s character in the film. A good chunk of the movie was shot in Udaipur, where Ishaan had to jump in a baoli (pond) in one of the forts. A day before the actual shoot of the scene, the actor was told that a snake was found in the pond, while the director later revealed in an interview video with Dharma Production that there was not just one but many snakes in the pond.
Fans celebrated three years of the Dhadak as well as appreciated the title track of the film that was sung by Shreya Goshal. A Twitter post of a fan reads, “#3YearsOfDhadak Those heart drenching lines from #Dhadak still freaking mind as a refreshing tune ever @shreyaghoshal sometimes words fall for it. Still favvvvvv... !!! @AjayAtulOnline - Great composition ever (sic)."
Dhadak can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video and ZEE5.
