The very mention of Sammohanam triggers memories of a film where various crafts of filmmaking seamlessly blended to provide a refreshing viewing experience that would sweep audiences off their feet. The Mohana Krishna Indraganti-directed film starring Sudheer Babu, Aditi Rao Hydari, Naresh, Pavitra Lokesh in key roles, was a lot beyond a soulful love story, poking fun at the tropes, cliches of the entertainment industry through the lens of a common man. The story comprised two elements that complete every Telugu household - movies and literature. Pelli Choopulu composer Vivek Sagar found his sweet spot in an eclectic album that makes us wonder why he hasn't gotten his due as a composer yet.

Marking three years of this memorable film, team Sammohanam gathered for a reunion of sorts for a Spaces conversation on Twitter. The film's cast and crew were all there at the meet, from the lead actors to the director to the cinematographer (PG Vinda), composer and the producer. OTTplay takes you through the highlights of this warm reunion.

"I was in Vizag while watching Mani Ratnam's Cheliya and by the intermission, I was sure that I had found my lead actress for Sammohanam (i.e. Aditi Rao Hydari). I managed to get her on a call and knew that I had a winner on my hand if I could bring her on board. Frankly, I expected her to be a typical snobbish Mumbai-based actress who would ask time to decide on the offer and tell me that she was too busy to take it up. Surprisingly, she wanted to listen to the story in the very first conversation we had and there was no looking back. Even with Sudheer Babu, it was a couple of scenes in Samanthakamani which gave me the confidence to unveil a different side to his acting repertoire. The two delivered and how!" Mohana Krishna Indraganti said.

"Honestly, I didn't know anything about Indraganti sir before he called me and I just trusted my gut instinct after listening to the story. I am glad I made that decision and Sammohanam is easily one of the most special experiences I've had on a set. Not a single day during the shoot felt like work and I was having great fun. Now, when I look back at it, there's so much happening through the story but the set atmosphere never let me feel the pressure at all. I still remember telling Indraganti sir about the unanimous response for the film on the release day," Aditi Rao Hydari stated.

"I may have done over 200 films in my career but I got my best introduction scene only in Sammohanam. I remember actress Jayasudha who was watching the film with me, laughing to bits for that sequence. I have never received so many compliments for a character in any of my recent films. Sammohanam will always have a special place in my heart," veteran actor Naresh mentioned.

Meanwhile, Sudheer Babu spoke highly about the director and how it's an actor's dream to be part of his films. Vivek Sagar expressed his happiness about working with a team that trusted its actors to carry the scenes minus a dominating score and giving enough freedom to bring his creative inputs to the final result. No wonder this is a film where the music, the performances, the storytelling are in complete sync with each other.
