Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45 has a new release date – one that the team says they will stick to, without fail. The film, which had earlier been announced as an Independence Day release had to be postponed, as the VFX work had not been completed. Starring Shivarajkumar, Upendra and Raj B Shetty in the lead, 45’s narrative has about 40% VFX, which was being done in Canada.
It's a Christmas release for 45
The team was meant to handover the final product in May this year to enable an August 15 release, but there were delays in submission and then several rounds of corrections. As of now, the VFX company, Marz, has promised to deliver by mid-September, with a buffer of another month, in case of any revisions. Based on this promise, producer Ramesh Reddy has fixed a new release date for 45. The film will be in theatres on December 25, 2025, becoming the Christmas release of the year.
As of now, 45 is set to clash with Alia Bhat’s Alpha, which will be a dampener for the film’s prospects in the Hindi belt. 45 is being released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. It also comes only days after James Cameron’s latest Avatar instalment. There is no major competition in the other belts, except for, say, Advi Shesh’s Dacoit, so December 25 may actually be a good time for the film.

Last year, Kiccha Sudeep’s Max hit theatres for Christmas and went on to become the highest grosser of the year. In 2023, it was Challenging Star Darshan who released Kaatera at the end of December and found major success. The festive window will likely work well for the film, especially if there are no major releases in the south, and given the popularity that all 3 stars have in these states.
