Netflix’s recent Korean film, My Name Is Loh Kiwan, premiered on the streaming platform on March 1. It’s been nearly a week since its release, but the hard-hitting survival story is still getting rave reviews from netizens. Recently, the streamer shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes stories that grabbed the interest of netizens, especially Song Joon-ki's revenge story on his film’s director, Kim Hee-jin.

Soong Joong-ki's payback for the challenging shoot

The titular protagonist, Song Joong-ki, relieved his pent-up frustration with the challenging film shoots by dunking his director-writer, Kim Hee-jin, in the ocean. The incident occurred during filming of the last scene at the beach.

North Korean meal

There is a scene where Loh Kiwan prepares a meal with cabbage for Marie (Kiwan’s love interest and female lead), which has a North Korean twist. According to the BTS moments, the North Korean accent coach and the art director of the film prepared the special Doenjang stew with a homemade North Korean recipe.

Choi Sung-eun's dedication for Marie

Sometimes the actors are so invested in the project that they go to extra lengths to portray the best of their onscreen characters. Choi Sung-eun, who plays the character of a troubled drug addict, Marie, would often spend time in the vacant and empty house of her character to acquaint herself with the surroundings of cold Belgium and her eccentric character.

Uncle and nephew of the same age

The real-life actors who play nephew and uncle in the survival drama film are nearly the same age. Despite their age-clashes, the makers ensured to make the uncle look older with his matured hair style and wardrobe. Seo Hyun-woo (40) is just 2 years older than Song Joong-Ki, but their relationship is impressively portrayed with some creative changes.

Body-double

During one of the key scenes where a supporting character, Seon-ju, deports from Belgium to China in a police car, it is actually filmed with a body double. Actor Lee Sang-hee couldn’t do the original shot because of some urgent work, and hence the last-minute body double was chosen from a crew member of the same body stature. The intriguing part is that it is quite hard to notice due to the crew member's perfect body language and craft.
