The south OTT world is buzzing with excitement as an interesting set of movies, including blockbusters, are set to make their digital premiere across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Telugu cinema is bringing in Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Thandel, and Venkatesh-starrer Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Malayalam cinema, on the other hand, pitches in with two hit films of Rekhachithram and Officer On Duty. Not the one to be left behind, Tamil cinema chips in with Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi's amazing chemistry is the biggest highlight of this film, which narrates the tale of fisherman Raju. After Raju finds himself in Pakistani waters, he gets arrested. Chandoo Mondeti's film shows how then he and Satya reunite. The moving performances of the lead stars and Devi Sri Prasad’s beautiful songs make a strong case that Thandel should be included in your weekend watchlist.
Rekhachithram

Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram ensured that Malayalam cinema started off with a hit in January 2025. Jofin T Chacko’s film, also starring Anaswara Rajan, won much love in Kerala due to its unique plot and stellar performances of its cast that also includes Manoj K. Jayan, Siddique, Zarin Shihab and Jagadish. The plot follows a cop trying to find the truth behind a young girl’s disappearance from a film set in the 1980s.

Officer On Duty

Language: Malayalam
Kunchacko Boban once again impressed audiences with his portrayal of a cop in Officer On Duty. The film, which also features Priyamani and Jagadish, opened to largely positive reviews upon its release on February 20, 2025. The Malayalam movie is also getting dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages. With its Netflix release, the Kunchacko Boban-starrer will reach out to a wider audience.
Vidaamuyarchi

Ajith Kumar and Trisha are seen as a couple, Kayal and Arjun, in Vidaamuyarchi. After certain events, wife Kayal goes missing during a road trip, leaving her husband desperately searching for her. Ajith Kumar’s much-awaited Vidaamuyarchi released in theatres in February 2025, but did not quite live up to the Thala fans’ expectations. Despite this, Magizh Thirumeni’s film is eagerly awaited on the OTT space where it could win more appreciation.
Sankranthiki Vasthunam

Venkatesh leads the way in Sankranthiki Vasthunam as he plays ex-cop Raju who gets a request to assist in an abduction case by his ex-girlfriend. He agrees to help her, but finds himself in a spot as his wife insists on joining the two on the mission. Anil Ravipudi’s film hit theatres as a Sankranthi release in January 2025, and won over the audiences. The movie is expected to get the same amount of love if not more upon its OTT premiere.
