Director Vasanth's Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum bagged three awards at the 68th National Film Awards, namely for the Best Tamil Film, Best Editing for Sreekar Prasad and Best Supporting Actress for Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli. The film's director, Vasanth, needless to say, is on cloud nine. Vasanth, who had earlier dedicated the honour to his guru, director K Balachander, also stated that the award goes to all the women who have impacted him.

In a letter that he shared on his social media page, director Vasanth wrote, "I am overwhelmed by the love and wishes from each and everyone of you. First and foremost, I offer my gratitude to my guru and my mentor director K Balachander. I owe this to him. This is an award that women who have impacted me in my life have won. These three National Awards have only increased the butterflies in my stomach.. meaning my responsibility. I thank and each and everyone of my audience for accepting and celebrating my Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum. Thanks to my actors, technicians and the whole team."

Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli had earlier shared that her heart was swelling with gratitude and happiness. She had written on her social media page, "This is a very big moment for me. It took me the whole of yesterday to just take in how it feels to have a 'Dream Come True'. A dream I have been very vocal about. My heart is filled with joy and gratitude to experience this."

Apart from Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum, Tamil film Soorarai Pottru bagged five awards namely for the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Background Score, Best Screenplay and Best Film. Madonne Ashwin went on to win the Best Debutant Director award and the film also bagged the award for Best Dialogues. The tally of awards bagged by the Tamil film industry stood at ten.
