Composer Nobin Paul had recently told us that although his film, the Rakshit Shetty-starrer #777Charlie is in theatres, his job’s not done yet, what with many more of the 10 songs from the original sound track still pending to be released. Prior to the film’s theatrical outing, the team had released songs like The Torture Song, O’Ga, Journey Song and Sahapaati and now comes the Bonding Song. The song that perfectly elucidates Dharma and Charlie's bond is what the team calls it.
Sung by Pancham Jeevan, with lyrics by Nagarjun Sharma, the song comes at a crucial point in the narrative when Dharma’s (Rakshit) perception of the dog in his care, which was unnamed until then, changes. Dharma, who couldn’t wait to get rid of the dog and give it up for adoption, realizes how much she means to him and him to her, albeit a little late. When he then returns to take her back it is the beginning of a beautiful journey for both the canine, who is then christened Charlie, and Dharma and that is what the song captures.
777 Charlie, directed by Kiranraj K, opened in theatres on June 10 in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi and has been warmly welcomed across the country. The film has become lead actor and producer Rakshit’s highest grosser to date. The film follows a loner called Dharma, whose life changes around when he begins to foster a dog. The narrative is about the transformative journey of both dog and man. Filmed across locations in Bengaluru, Goa, Rajasthan and Kashmir, among others, the film also stars Sangeetha Sringeri, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Raj B Shetty, (late) Bhargavi Narayan and Bobby Simha, among others.
The film’s digital rights have been sold to Voot Select, but its streaming date will be only 48 days after its theatrical outing, Rakshit had clarified earlier.
