Debutant director MS Sripathy's 800, a biopic on ace Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralidaran, hit screens today. The film stars Madhurr Mittal of Slumdog Millionaire fame in the lead, who plays the ace cricketer. Mahima Nambiar and Nassar form the rest of the star cast.

Suseenthiran's note to the team
Ahead of the film's release, director Suseenthiran, who has made sports-based films like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, wrote a personal note to the team. The note read, "Debutant director MS Sripathy has beautifully captured the pain of a Tamilian and the film is a must-watch for all avid fans of cricket." The note is now doing the rounds on the internet.

Actor Suniel Shetty is also all praise for the film and wished the team on its release. His social media post read, "Super-excited for the legendary #MuttiahMuralitharan on the release of #800TheMovie. Hoping it weaves the same magic as your enchanting deliveries on the field @Murali_800 Wishing the entire team all the 'runs' and 'wickets' for this one (sic)!

Technical crew
The star cast includes Nassar and Mahima Nambiar. Ghibran has scored the music for the biopic, which has cinematography by RD Rajasekar and editing by Praveen KL.

An October 2023 Release
800, bankrolled by Movie Train Motion Pictures, is all set to hit screens on October 6. The film, which has been shot in Tamil, will be released in Telugu, English and Hindi as well.

800 has released today along with Trisha's The Road, Vijay Antony's Raththam, Vikram Prabhu's Irugapatru and Shot Bot Three. What's interesting about these films is that all of them belong to a different genre, thus providing a unique treat to the audience.
