Kabir Khan’s sports drama 83 starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Tahir Raj Bhasin in the lead was well received by the fans across the country. Bringing together cinema and cricket, two of the biggest entertainment streams in the country, the movie was based on India’s cricket World Cup win of 1983.
Now, talking to the student of the University of Warwick, UK in an interaction, the director said that the movie was a once in a lifetime experience.
“83 is one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences and I can't be more happy for the love and appreciation it continues to get the world over. It celebrates an iconic moment in history,”
The filmmaker also said that he is looking forward to talking to the students about the movie and that he enjoys speaking to students because it helps him speak from the heart.
Khan also said that he has been receiving hundreds of messages from students from around the world regarding the film, enquiring about the process of recreating a historic moment like '83' with such attention to detail.
Co-written and directed by Kabir Khan, the movie stars Singh, Padukone, Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil and Wamiqa Gabbi among others.
The movie is based on the historic Indian national cricket team led by Kapil Dev and how they went on to win the cricket World Cup in 1983. Following multiple delays, the film premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival on December 15, 2021, and had its worldwide theatrical release on 24 December 2021.
The movie received critical acclaim and was a hit among the fans, but still did not do as expected in the box office. The sports drama will be released simultaneously on Netflix and Disney Hotstar.
