The Academy has announced the shortlists in 10 categories, including documentary feature film, documentary short film, international feature film, makeup and hairstyling, music (original score), music (original song), animated short film, live action short film, sound, and visual effects. The nominations for the 95th Academy Awards will be announced in one month.

Pan Nalin's Last Film Show has been shortlisted in the top 15 of the international feature film category. In this category, movies from 92 different nations and regions were permitted. Academy members from all branches were invited to take part in the preliminary voting, and they had to fulfil a viewing threshold in order to cast a ballot in the relevant category.

Academy members from all branches are invited to opt in to participate in the nominations round and must watch all 15 films that made the shortlist in order to cast a ballot.

Denmark: Holy Spider

Germany: All Quiet on the Western Front

India: Last Film Show

Ireland: The Quiet Girl

Mexico: Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths

Morocco: The Blue Caftan

Pakistan: Joyland

Poland: EO

South Korea: Decision to Leave

Sweden: Cairo Conspiracy

Members of the relevant branch choose the short list for each film, except for international feature films. Members from all branches are invited to take part in the preliminary voting, and in order to cast a ballot in a particular category, they must fulfil a watching criterion.

Pan Nalin is the director of the Gujarati-language coming-of-age drama movie Chhello Show, also known as Last Film Show. Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval, and Paresh Mehta are among its cast members. The movie had its world premiere at the 20th Tribeca Film Festival on June 10, 2021, and it hit Indian theatres on October 14, 2022.
