Young actress Gouri Kishan, who rose to fame after the Tamil hit '96, will be paired opposite Santhosh Shoban in the upcoming Telugu movie, Sridevi Shoban Babu, helmed by Prasanth Kumar Dimmala. The movie co-starred by Santhosh Shoban is backed by Sushmita Konidela, is the daughter of the Tollywood star Chiranjeevi. Ahead of the legendary actor’s birthday, Sushmita unveiled the title and first look poster of the upcoming project on the eve of August 21.
Gouri took the happy news to her Instagram and wrote, ‘So happy to announce my first Telugu film titled - #SrideviShobanaBabu on Megastar Chiranjeevi Garu’s birthday’. The actress shared the first look poster in the feed and also tagged the cast and crew in the later part of the caption.
Gouri made her debut in '96 by playing Jaanu,the childhood character of Trisha in the popular 2018 Tamil movie. The actress, who was in her 12th grade while doing the film, received much appreciation for her realistic performance and paved a way for her successful career in the cinema industry. She made her Malayalam debut in the 2019 film Margamkali, and also starred opposite Sunny Wayne in Anugraheethan Antony. She played Jaanu again in the Telugu remake of '96 in 2020, marking her debut in Telugu. She also played a vital role in the Maari Selvaraj directorial Karnan in Tamil, alongside Dhanush and Rajisha Vijayan. During the pandemic lockdown, the actress created an internet storm through her musical short film titled Maraiyadha Kanneer Illai, which was shot by herself virtually and released by Sony Music South.
As she is set to star in Sridevi Shoban Babu, her fans are elated and eager to see her next performance on the screen. The movie, which will be bankrolled under the banner of Gold Box Entertainments, is the first feature film to be made under the banner by Sushmita Konidela. She announced the news on her Twitter handle and shared the excitement of co-producing it along with Vishnu Prasad.
