A Journal For Jordan trailer: A moving tale of love, loss and family from Denzel Washington

The holiday season is where filmmakers try to pump viewers with as many feel-good holiday themed films as possible keeping in line with the merry spirit. Not one to move with the flow, Denzel Washington is all set to bring viewers a different kind of holiday movie, one designed to move audiences to tears. The filmmaker’s latest drama, A Journal For Jordan released its trailer recently. 

The trailer gets straight to the point from the get go; the opening scene depicts a woman gifting her fiancée a journal and asking him to use it to write down the thoughts he wants to share with his unborn son. He decides to do just that, starting with narrating how he met his adoring partner, who wasn’t smitten with him at first, and how their relationship blossomed. 

Throughout the rest of the trailer, we get to know that the man is in the military and his deployment brings about a strain in the couple’s relationship. But the man’s message for his son is one of hope, all the while not painting a rosy picture by stressing that love requires a certain degree of sacrifice.

A Journal For Jordan is based on the memoir A Journal for Jordan: A Story of Love and Honor by Dana Canedy. The film stars Michael B Jordan, Chanté Adams, Robert Wisdom, Johnny M Wu, Jalon Christian and Tamara Tunie. Virgil Williams has written the film.

The film will be the latest directorial venture of Washington after the 2016 Academy Award-nominated drama Fences, in which he also starred alongside Viola Davis.

A Journal For Jordan will be released in US theatres on December 25, 2021.
